Ingredients for the Tart

Plain Flour- 225gms

Cold Butter- 115gms

Ingredients for the Filling

Strawberry- 300gms

Sugar- 130gms

Vanilla Ice-cream to serve


Sieve the flour. Cut the butter with a knife and rub into the flour with finger tips. Gradually add ice cold water (2-3 tablespoons) to make the dough into a rolling consistency.

Lightly flour the rolling pin and the pastry board. Roll out the dough to fit the diameter of the tart dish (7” or 8”). Place the dough in an ungreased pie dish and prick it with a fork all over. Brush with a little milk or beaten egg for the glaze. Bake in a hot oven at 450 oF for about 15-17 minutes.

Clean and slice the strawberries in a bowl. Add sugar and set aside for some time.

Heat a pan and add the strawberry mixture. Stir occasionally on medium flame for 10-12 minutes.  Set aside and let it cool. 

Remove the tart from the oven and fill it up with the prepared relish. 

Cool the tart and cut into slices. Serve with vanilla ice-cream!
